A Policeman is in tears after he was duped by yahoo boys who used Vice President Osibanjo’s name on Facebook.

According to the officer, while narrating his ordeal to a reporter, he said that the fraudsters chatted up his wife on the social media app impersonating the Vice President of Nigeria.

As the chat was going on, the fraudster claimed he won N950k from his company and he needs their account details to credit them immediately.

The overzealous then approached him and told him about the money, so he gave out his account details to the men.

So on reaching home this evening, he started receiving a series of debit alert on his phone.

Sekem’ crooner, Innocent Udeme Udofot, popularly known as MC Galaxy has revealed in a recent interview with Saturday Beats that he used to dance everywhere, at burials, and even in the market. I have been doing the ‘Sekem’ dance at comedy clubs before I produced the song.

“I used to be a comedian and a dancer; I used to dance everywhere, at burials, and even in the market. I have been doing the ‘Sekem’ dance at comedy clubs before I produced the song” he said.

Galaxy, who recently gifted a car to Tspize, the producer of his first hit song, noted that he gave him the car because he deserved it. He also stressed that he didn’t share the news of his gesture to trend.

“The producer of the song is very understanding and patient; that was why I gave him a car recently. In a bid to surprise him, I tricked him to meet me somewhere giving the impression that I wanted to give him some money; but I dazzled him with a car gift instead.

“I can remember how I met him at the club and told him I would like him to produce my song. He is very humble, he gave me his contact details and that was how we met and started five years ago. He told me to come with N50,000 but I was only able to raise N40,000. I explained to him that was all I had on me.

“After I gave him the car, he told me that he could remember when I told him I was going to buy him a car, the day we were producing the song. Contrary to what some people are saying, I didn’t share the news to trend.

Tspize was even the first person to post a picture of the car on his page,” he said.

And just 2 days ago, he posted on social media photo a cheque of N3million presented to music executive Ubi Franklin.

When quizzed about his international future, Mikel said that he is uncertain if he will be available for selection for their 2021 edition in Cameroon.

Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has hinted that the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) could be his last continental outing with the country.

Mikel has been a regular fixture in the national team frame since he made his Super Eagles debut back in August 2005 during a friendly match against Libya.

The former Chelsea midfielder has been named in Gernot Rohr’s final 23-man squad for the tournament in Egypt and he is now set to play in his fourth Afcon after previous appearances in the 2006, 2008 and 2013 editions.

When quizzed about his international future, Mikel said that he is uncertain if he will be available for selection for their 2021 edition in Cameroon.

“I do not know but I think it may be (my last Afcon). I like to go every year and see how I feel,” Mikel told NFF media.

“Obviously the young players are coming, I think before the next one comes around again I will be 34 or so.

“I think this will probably be my last Afcon but I’m not 100 percent sure yet. I have given so much to this nation and at some point, you have to let go. I don’t want to overstay my welcome.

“I will leave when I feel the time is right. Let’s hope we can make it count.”

Mikel was part of the Nigeria team that won the Africa Cup of Nations title six years ago but he still desires to win more silverware with the Super Eagles.

“I’m always hungry to win if I didn’t want to win then I would not be here. I don’t just want to come in and play the Nations Cup.

I have played so many games and there is no point that I’m just coming to play. I’ve come to win,” he continued.

“And that’s the same mentality I want to put in the younger ones to win. I know for some of them, it is just their first time and they just want to play but they need to have the mentality of going to win.

“That is the mentality that I have and hopefully, I can translate this from my performance on the pitch and outside the pitch when talking to them. Hopefully, we can do great things in Egypt.”

Mikel has enjoyed an illustrious football career with several awards including the Uefa Champions League, Uefa Europa League, two Premier League titles and three FA Cups among other trophies.

When he finally decides to hang his boots, the 32-year-old revealed that he will not be taking up an immediate role in football.

“Life after football? I don’t know if I will still be in the game, I have a lot of things going on,” he said.

“I like to do business, I’m a business guy so I don’t know if I will have time to be in the game.

I love the game but who knows, maybe one day, I might come back to the game but at this point, after football, I am not thinking about being in the game.”

The Super Eagles have been paired in Group B against Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar for the Afcon finals in Egypt.

They will kick-off their quest for a fourth title against Burundi at the Alexandria Stadium on June 22.

The Police has commenced investigation to ascertain why the man hung himself on a ceiling fan in his room.

The Police in Kano is to launch a discrete investigation over the death of one Mr Femi Oguntumi of Dakata Quarters who committed suicide in his room Friday night.

The Man who is a Staff of Karish College, Kawaji in Kano metropolis did not leave any notes on why he committed suicide.

Mr Femi was said to have hung himself on a ceiling fan in his room at about 10pm.

Confining the incident, Police Spokesman, DSP Haruna Abdullahi said Femi’s corpse was deposited at the Murtala Muhammad Hospital.

However, the Police has already commenced investigation into the actual reasons why Femi committed suicide.

The Police Commissioner has ordered discrete investigation into what pushed Femi into committing suicide.

An eyewitness, Mathew Ilem who spoke with Vanguard said the incident occurred barely 20 minutes that the bank officials loaded the machines with cash.

There was pandemonium in the early hours of Saturday as no fewer than four Automated Teller Machines owned by a new generation bank burst in flames and exploded destroying the machines.

The incident Vanguard gathered occurred at the an ATM gallery in front of University of Calabar, UNICAL, gate at about 9:00 am this morning.

Vanguard also learned that no customer was injured during the explosion but there was panic because the explosion causes trepidation amongst users and passers by near the University gate.

An eyewitness ,Mathew Ilem who spoke with Vanguard said the incident occurred barely 20 minutes that the bank officials loaded the machines with cash.

He said:-

”It was not up to 20 minutes when the bank officials loaded the machines with cash before the fire started from inside and the machines started exploding.

” I had to call police and fire service who responded on time and they are trying to put out the fire ,the cause is not sure but its seems it’s an electrical fault

Vanguard gathered that policemen and fire fighters cordoned off the area and the fire service put out the fire .

Effort to speak with the bank officials proved abortive as they refused to make any comment on the incident .

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He said the victim had been taken to hospital for medical examination, while investigation was ongoing on the matter.

Mohammed said:-

“The suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of an 11-year-old deaf and dumb girl of the same address, while the victim’s mother was away.

“The scene was visited by police detectives and the victim was taken to hospital for medical examination and the case is under investigation.”

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has confirmed that his assistant captain, Ahmed Musa, will not feature in Sunday’s friendly game against Senegal.

Rohr, while speaking with SportingLife, cited ill-health as the reason why the Saudi Arabia-based winger is being left out of the squad.

“Musa is sick as a result of this he will not play against Senegal,” the German said.

Rohr also revealed that striker Henry Onyekuru and right-back Shehu Abdullahi won’t face the Teranga Lions.

“We have done a lot of training here in Ismaila but not for three players who are sick today and they are Ahmed Musa like I told you and Shehu Abdullahi and also Henry Onyekuru,” he added.

The Senate President assured that if presented in September ending or early October, the budget would be passed before the December break.

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, on Friday said Nigeria’s annual appropriation bill would be passed in three months under his leadership.

He spoke to newsmen after performing Friday’s Juma’at prayer at the State House, Abuja.

Lawan, however, said to achieve this, the executive and the legislature must work together.

The Senate President assured that if presented in September ending or early October, the budget would be passed before the December break.

“A month would be set aside for budget defense by MDAs”, Lawan added, warning that Senate not tolerate any delay by government parastatals.

Meanwhile, the 9th Senate had resolved to write an official letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, informing him that a quorum of the Senate had assembled and that its presiding officers have been elected.

The upper chamber also resolved to inform the international parliamentary bodies that a quorum of the Senate of the 9th National Assembly has assembled and was ready to receive any communication

All members of the National Youth Service Corps have cause to rejoice, as N30,000 new allowance is about to be implemented.

Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said the scheme will communicate to corps members when the payment of N30,000 new allowance would take off, TheNation has reported.

The DG stated this on Friday at a workshop/ training on Freedom of Information Act for Desk Officers of the NYSC in Abuja.

When he was asked when the payment of N30,000 allowance for corps members would take -off, the DG said: “They will be communicated accordingly, please.”

The DG said the workshop is aimed at consolidating on the successes recorded by the scheme regarding the use of the FOIA.

Ibrahim said that the scheme had grappled with challenges, which were occasioned by “apparent lack of knowledge of our policies and operations by a section of the public.”

He urged Nigerians to familiarise themselves with the NYSC Act so as to understand better, the operations of the scheme and its role.

Ibrahim said:-

“Since the enactment of the Freedom of Information Act in 2011, the NYSC has been in the forefront of ensuring total compliance with the provisions of the Act.”

The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, noted that the scheme had FOI community development service groups for corps members who assist in sensitising members of the public on the FOI Act.

He was killed on the streets of Lagos while trying to separate a fight between two people.

An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered the remand of a 27-year-old man, Ibrahim Abu, accused of stabbing a man to death with a broken bottle who played the role of ‘Good Samaritan’ by separating a street fight.

The presiding Magistrate, Tolu Agbona ordered that Abu should be remanded in Ikoyi Prison pending legal advice from the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

He, thereafter, adjourned the matter till July 15.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Cousin Adams, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 30, at Satellite Town.

He alleged that the defendant had used a broken bottles to stab Azuka Ogobi, 32, to death.

“The deceased did not like the fact that the defendant was separating two street fighters, he approached him and asked that he should not meddle and should leave them to fight.

“The duo consequently had gotten into a fight and stabbed each other, but Ogobi died two days later from the wound sustained,” the prosecutor said.

The offence, Adams said, contravened the provisions of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 223 stipulates death sentence for offenders.
